With easy access from Route 4 West and a quick exit onto Paramus Road, and just south of Century Road, families didn't have to travel far to have the "beach experience". Sometimes confused with the Old Mill Beach which sat on the corner of Midland Avenue and Paramus Road. Today, it is the site of a Care One facility under construction.
I think you have the two beaches reversed in your narrative. Old Mill Beach was by Century and Paramus Bathing was at Midland.
ReplyDeleteYes. That is correct. I remember the 25 foot diving board at Paramus Bathing Beach. We used to sneak in as kids, jumping the fence back by the picnic area in the early 1960's.
